Club
The club committee chair for the 2006-2008 year is Jennifer Erb and is focused on fellowship among Rotary members and their families.
Our goal is to plan one event per season to mingle our Rotary family with our personal families in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Stay tuned for upcoming events beginning Summer 2007! The club committee welcomes your ideas for future events. Use the e-mail feature to drop us your suggestions.
Summer Event
Our summer event consisted of a Friends & Family day at the beach. Rotarians were asked to bring a picnic lunch for themselves and their guests with enough dessert to share with all. The club supplied Charcoal, Lighter Fluid and Beverages for all and a few give-aways for the kids. The waterpark was open for a quick colling off. Everyone had a great time!
Fall Event
For our Fall event, we all headed for a Pumpkin Picking & Picnic in late September at Schmidts Farm. The weather was absolutely perfect! The day began with a hay ride out to the patch where we all carefully selected our very own magic pumpkins. The children enjoyed the corn maze and amusements in the park, while the adults shopped for holiday decorations and fresh veggies under the canopy of the market stand. Later in the day a brown-bag lunch was offered to each attendee along with a sweet treat of candy corn. We are all looking forward to next year's event!
Winter Event
Dust off those bowling shoes! Our winter event planning is underway. Needing to keep warm, we're looking toward an inside venue. Ideas so far are revolving around a bowling day featuring 2 games of bowling, a few challenges, and lunch of course! Expect to see a sign-up sheet circling early January. If you haven't had opportunity to attend a previous event, you just don't know what you're missing! Consider attending this one.

Bill reports on his first meeting as Lindenhurst's president 2008-2009...
I felt the excitement of the year ahead growing at my first meeting, this past Thursday, that also doubled as our awards ceremony. I presided over the event with the honor and the joy of what Rotary is all about. Here's what took place:
1 - Lindenhurst Rotary Club presented checks for four scholarships to deserving students who are off to college.
2 - Lindenhurst Rotary Club presented checks to seven food pantries and recognized their hard work.
3 - I held my first board meeting (on the spot) which resulted in a vote to present a check to Suffolk Literacy for the first time, and also recognized the fine work they are doing.
4 - We also recognized the accomplishments of our members who worked, and continue to work, on our international mission with the Doctors from N. Vietnam.
5 - We had a RYLA speaker that just stole the show... he single-handedly raised community awareness of Rotary and its affect on young leaders.
We had a great buffet lunch and a fellowship finally - it was a great first meeting!
